Why I want to be an OT

  Why I want to be an OT      My personal experiences and passions have led me to become an occupational therapist. In addition, numerous mentors, educators, and family members have poured into my life empowering me to pursue a career as an OT. I am so grateful to be on this journey of academic study, personal growth, and professional development. My goal is to empower clients to better fulfill their roles and equip them with the resources necessary to do so. I am so excited that occupational therapy is the avenue in which I can achieve this goal.    My friend Allison who's in OT school at UAB has a sticky note on her laptop that says, "Study for the patient and not the grade." This phrase hit me like a ton of bricks! The "Why" is not really about me. It's not about being the top in the class, bringing the big bucks home, or having the letters after your name. The entire mission of occupational therapy centers around the roles and occupations of each client...
